Cogenra Solar seeks to hire an experience Mechanical Engineer to join a team developing a new generation of CPV solar system.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop novel designs and concepts for a new CPV solar system
  • Identify best practices in large scale CPV solar system deployment, and lowest cost installation solutions
  • Design, and develop cost effective trackers for Cogenra module arrays
  • Work with vendors and contract manufacturers to optimize design to cost for volume manufacturing
  • Lead and drive engineering projects, including development of key suppliers
  • Prepare mechanical drawings and assembly procedures
  • Write technical specifications, design documents, test plans and integration procedures
  • Develop and maintain product and system related technical documentation
  • Participate in the development of Cogenra technology roadmap

Specific Skills and Experience Desired

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering with exposure to high volume manufacturing and related production methods
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, at least 3 years of CPV, CSP systems experience or 1D tracker design
  • Understanding of solar array balance of system components and 1-D tracker design
  • Experience with product reliability design and testing
  • Good working knowledge of engineering materials and stress analysis calculations, Finite Element Analysis
  • Expert with Solidworks, Have experience with FEA software
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as roll forming, stamping, casting, welding, rapid prototyping, in addition to any other techniques useful in solving mechanical problem
  • Hands-on experience with commercial solar installation, tracker installation experience a strong plus
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • “Roll up the sleeves and dive in” attitude

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with exposure to high volume manufacturing and related production methods
  • Expert with Solidworks
  • Have experience with FEA software like COSMOS, Lab View
  • Ability to lead development of new concept from the very beginning
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • “Roll up the sleeves and dive in” attitude
