Cogenra is looking to hire a sales engineer to work closely with sales and operations to develop commercial solar cogeneration projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing prospective customer sites, energy usage, system modeling and economic viability of Cogenra’s solutions as well as developing project proposals.
The sales engineer is an integral part of the sales team, identifying and evaluating prospective opportunities, clients and partners, including prospects’ site, energy usage and potential economic benefits, to drive market adoption of Cogenra Solar solutions. Reporting to the Vice President, US Sales, this is an excellent growth opportunity for a driven, passionate individual who wants to apply their engineering knowledge to create real-world solutions, making a significant impact on the company’s sales direction and, therefore, the direction of the overall industry.
As is typical with start-ups, the Sales Engineer role goes beyond a traditional function – the successful candidate must have the ability to act independently in an unstructured environment, operate proactively to solve problems, and have a passion to drive adoption of renewable technologies.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with sales representatives to model physical and economic benefits for prospective clients and partners
- Create solar system performance modeling design and layout
- Develop and deliver specific proposals that sell the unique benefits of our system for our prospects, working with sales, marketing, engineering and senior management to define the best solution for the client’s situation
- Drive follow-up on customer and partner commitments that improve close rates
- Manage documents and support sales team with sales contracts, incentive applications, and other project-specific needs
Desired Experience
- 1-5 years engineering experience, preferably in energy, facilities, HVAC, development or construction-related roles
- Client-facing experience with C-level contacts in large and medium size companies
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- High urgency, high energy, positive, enthusiastic, self-driven
- Ability to thrive in a start-up environment, with limited direction and broad responsibilities
- Experience in solar, energy cogeneration or energy efficiency industries
- Experience selling products or services into industries such as multifamily real estate, food processing, beverage, hospital, and/or hospitality industries a plus
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
Qualifications
- B.S. in engineering (ideally with a solid foundation in mechanical, civil, chemical, or structural engineering)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
1+ years direct business to business client-facing or systems engineering experience - Technical understanding of on-site energy systems
